About

Game Changers with Gabby is something I developed in order to study how the media frames female athletes and male athletes. One of the reasons I chose the title “Game Changers” is because this show represents how women are changing the game of sports, starting with basketball, but the effect is shifting all sports. Throughout this process, I recorded a multimedia broadcast show developed from strong research questions and interviewing key experts on the topic.

I chose to speak with four former women’s college basketball players at Wake Forest University and ESPN+ broadcaster Sam Hyman at Ohio University. The women gave a unique perspective on the Game Changing for women in sports and their image portrayals across the years of women’s sports really catching the eyes of the audience.

With the rising attention around women’s basketball recently, credited to Caitlyn Clark, I only saw it fitting to speak with women who had first hand experience in bouncing the ball for a living and went on to pave the way to exceptional careers.

I saw it to be fitting to interview Sam Hyman for two specific reasons: he offers a unique male perspective, and he’s in the business first hand broadcasting for a variety of both female and male sports on ESPN+ Ohio University Athletics.
