Throughout the print portion of my project, there were many more implications and inquires drawn during the process. My paper consisted of three research questions that I used to formulate my interview questions. Everything ties together between the paper and the broadcast show. The print portion of my project allowed me to go more into depth about the implications drawn from my study on how the media frame female athletics compared to male athletics.
Research Questions:
- Why are male athletes often characterized by power, independence, and dominance while female athletes are characterized by attractiveness?
- How has the image portrayal of female athletes case the audience to devalue women in athletics including young female athletes?
- What is behind the media using demeaning terms and over sexualization for women in athletics?
